150+ Year Old Railroad

In 1869, our railroad was built to serve the upper Susquehanna River Valley. Today, we offer Scenic and Themed Excursions along that river.

Ride Into History and Beautiful Scenery

Built in 1869, the Cooperstown & Charlotte Valley Railroad gives you a chance to experience what was once the primary form of transportation throughout the country – riding the rails. In an area rich with railroad history the Cooperstown & Charlotte Valley Railroad takes our visitors back in time with vintage rail cars and locomotives through the scenic wilderness of the upper Susquehanna River Valley. The Railroad crosses the river twice over two steel-truss bridges, and travels through a variety of landscapes including forests, wetlands and rolling farms. In the beautifully restored Milford Depot also built in 1869, visitors can view a variety of exhibits and displays on railroad history.

Our equipment is historic in nature, with some equipment being as old as 100 years, making it impossible to bring it up to ADA compliance. We will make every accommodation we possibly can for those with disabilities. Our depot is equipped with a wheelchair ramp, but Wheelchairs are limited to 24 inches in width for both the ramp and onboard the train. Parties with a wheelchair should make a note when purchasing their ticket or calling our depot.
