Thanks to some
recently acquired modern tools this season has seen significant progress in
trackwork along the railroad. Case in point, some new track in
Milford!
In the
Delaware-Otsego era, a track on the north side of the Rte. 166 crossing and
east of "main" was used to offload equipment. Called the "ramp track",
this is where DO steam engine #2 was parked for years before moved to
Cooperstown for display. The wooden ramp structure has been removed
and slowly progress has been made to extend the track towards Rte. 166 for
storage purposes.

The first step involved removing all the rails and ties on top.

All track was removed back to the switch. What this siding
looked like in D&H days is anyone's guess. Perhaps it ran a
little closer to the building on the left? Courtesy of Ken

With winter has come a cessation of work, but enough track has been
put down to park some rolling stockin. Always a "when time
allows" project, progress has been a bit slow due to other
priority projects. Courtesy of Ken
